Hi! I’m Kaylee Snyder, and I created the Oregon Coast Soccer Club (OCSC) as part of my Pacifica Project at Seaside High School. The Pacifica Project is a community service initiative that requires SHS students to complete at least 50 hours of service before graduation.

In 2021, Caleigh Peterson and I decided to host a youth soccer camp. After four challenging years for families and kids—especially here in Clatsop County—we saw a real need for summer activities and safe, fun opportunities for youth. Launching the OCSC in the summers of 2021 and 2022 not only helped me far exceed the required hours, but it also showed me how impactful these kinds of programs can be in our community.

In the summer of 2023, I mentored SHS senior Jasmine Schermerhorn so she could use the OCSC as her own Pacifica Project, continuing the legacy. Last summer (2024), I had the chance to mentor Layla Varozza, who also took on the camp for her Pacifica and helped make another successful summer possible.

This upcoming summer (2025), I’ll be mentoring three amazing SHS juniors—Lilli Miller, Kylie Keranen, and Bella Atwi—who will all be seniors this fall. They’ll be continuing the OCSC legacy and using the camp as their own Pacifica Project, just like Jasmine and Layla before them.

Our mission is simple: to give kids a space where they feel safe, learn new skills, meet new friends, and most importantly—have a blast playing soccer!

 

Growing up in Cannon Beach, I know firsthand that opportunities like this were few and far between on the Coast. That’s why we’re passionate about creating something lasting for our community—something that brings people together, supports youth development, and gives families access to fun, meaningful summer experiences right here at home. OCSC is more than just a camp—it’s a way to give back and help build a stronger, more connected coastal community for generations to come.​​

 

All proceeds go directly to the Seaside High School Girls’ Soccer Program.
